Christmas

Well this will be my last post this year... I was talking to my Aunt and I loved her idea about starting fresh for the New Year. So I am going to print out my blog and scrap book it then start a fresh blog for the New Year. Christmas was good this year I was nice and tried to stay upbeat the whole time...

Christmas Eve PJ's (the dogs trying to get in on the action.. LOL) My kids are so GREAT!! They are so cute.. They look forward to opening their PJ's every year on Christmas Eve and this is my favorite tradition. It is just a simple thing, no toys, not to expensive but all four of them love it.

Christmas Morning... They had to wait on the stairs until we were ready for them to come down...

It was a white Christmas this year. The kids had a blast playing in the snow. I still need to get them all snow pants.. They came in the house wet and very cold but they did have fun.

We went to dinner with my mom's brother Clark and his family. It was AWESOME to see them!! My Uncle lives in Kansas so we don't see him very often and two of his children live in Logan and the other one lives in Price so we don't really see them that often either.

We went to Scott's mom's Christmas afternoon for lunch. The kids recieved their gifts they had gone shopping for. They were very excited they have been waiting months to get them.

We spent Christmas evening at my mom's for dinner. That finished off our Christmas day. (YAY). We had a GREAT year and we are looking forward to the New Year.

WII

I am sitting here watching Scott and MaKia play the WII we received today from Santa. So I thought I would blog... LOL! I hope everyone had a safe and Merrry Christmas. We did!! MaKia and McKenna woke up at 6:50 but the other two didn't get up until almost 8. So we were able to sleep in a little bit; it was nice. We ate lunch with Scott's family and then went to my mom's for dinner. The WII is a blast to play. Here is Scott playing baseball and MaKia playing boxing. (I will post more about our Christmas later).

Favorite X-mas Gifts

I love the home made Christmas gifts I get from my kids every year. This year Kaden made me a Christmas ornament (White one) like the one MaKia made me two years ago (Blue one).

This year Kaden also made me a little certificate that was suppose to be a "Promise to" but his says you can give me hugs any time you want. LOL!! It was so cute!! I love it!!

Thinking back when I was growing up my most memorable Christmas present was one year my parents gave both Jason and I water beds (very materialistic I know) but it was one of my favorite Christmas's. We walked in to find our Head boards (mine had the cutest White Teddy bear on it that I actually still have). I loved that bed. I was only 8 years old and I had my very own Queen Size water bed with a beautiful headboard and dresser.

While my parents were married Jason and I were very very spoiled!! They made sure we had everything we wanted and more. When they divorced my mom felt like she was letting us down when she couldn't give us those HUGE Christmas's that we were use to. She did more then enough for us and always made sure we had what we wanted. Maybe that is why Christmas is so hard for me now; because I know what my mom went through to try and make Jason and I happy. There have been some years I have felt helpless with my kids. No matter what I bought them, how much money we spent or how many gifts they received they always wanted more. Last year I threatened their Christmas's. I told them they would never have Christmas again if they were ungrateful. I have made it very clear to them that they have more then most. The angle tree and giving is a big thing for me around Christmas and I make sure my kids know about the little kids that won't get anything, including food, at Christmas. They have become better I will give them that (still very spoiled though).

X-mas Party

Our first Christmas party this year was with my friends. We had a BLAST!! I love getting together with them. We have been friends since Jr. High!! There were a few that couldn't make it but we will forgive them.. :)We don't see each other that often so when we do we drink ALOT and catch up. Since Angie's passing we have been a lot better about trying to get together. Our goal was every other month but life happens so that is hard to do. But hey at least we try right... This year, for the most part, the guys grouped together and the girls grouped together. Once in a while we mingled.

Mike received the "gag" gift this year.

Cindy was the culprit (she was the only one willing to try it on).

Reporst - Greatest Women in the World

I can't write another one today... After loosing my Godfather Larry and today being my Grandma's B-day I am struggling... So I am reposting this from a few years back. In remembrance of my Grandma DeAnn. Happy Happy B-day!! A day I treasure and still celebrate after your gone because if it wasn't for this day I wouldn't have the hero I adore.

My Grandma DeAnn (my mom's mom) is the greatest lady I have ever known. She would go out of her way to help anyone out. One of my many memories of her was after my parents divorced, my mom, my brother, and I lost the home we had grown up in. We had to move to a very small 2-bedroom apartment in Orem. My mom struggled to pay the bills and put food on the table for me and my brother. One day I came home to find boxes of grocery's on our table. There wasn't a note and nobody was there. I called my mom and she knew nothing about it. We found out later that Grandma had come by to drop off the grocery's, keep in mind she lived in Emery County, which is a 2 hour drive. That was the type of person she was. When I was 13 I went to live with Grandma and Grandpa. At the time I hated it but I have to say I wouldn't take back that time I was able to spend with them. If I only knew then what I do now I would have been a very different person. Anyway, Grandma knew I wasn't happy about living w/her. She was able to pull some strings to get me into Jr. High (I should have been in 6th grade but I was actually smart at that time). She also made every effort possible to help me have a good time. She went all out for my favorite holiday(Halloween) and made sure I had everything I wanted and needed. She is the wind beneath my wings and I love her and miss her more each day. I am a better person for knowing her and the world was a much better place when she was in it.

We little knew that day God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly in death, we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you; you did not go alone. For part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories. Your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same. But as god calls us one by one the chain will link again."

"If tears could build a stairway, and memories build a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven, and bring you home again"

Christmas Decor

Well Laura did this as a tag so of course I have to play along... I usually decorate for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving but this year Thanksgiving was late so I decorated the weekend before Thanksgiving. One tradition my family has is either Scott or my mom will buy me a nutcracker. I love them!! (as you can see by my collection)

Another tradition we have is I buy a Christmas Ornament every year for everyone. I have been buying Hallmark ornaments but my bill this year was over $100.00 so I am thinking next year I am going to copy the Nance/Abel family and come up with a theme for each person and buy a cheaper ornament for that theme. (My tree is pretty full of ornaments already but hey this is fun right!!)

Then, finally, my decor wouldn't be complete w/out my mangers. I have two of them :).

UPDATE

Well Frank was transferred out of ICU last night YAY!! We are hoping he gets to come home today. They are still running some tests on him but all in all he is doing a lot better. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

Update on us... I am almost done w/my first semester of school!! I have enrolled at UVU for January to get my Bachelors of Science in Community Health. The kids are excited for Christmas and Scott is still working hard.. LOL! He is talking about taking a class in January to get his EMT license. We are all done shopping for Christmas so now we can sit back and relax.. LOL!! We have several Christmas parties to go to with friends and family so I am excited about that. My favorite part of the holidays is getting together with family and friends. I hope my family will "pony up" this year so we can all go see the lights at Temple Square. It has been so long since we have all gone.

Holiday Scare

Well the year wouldn't be complete without a scare at the holidays. It seems every year something bad happens around the holidays. I don't know if this is to test our faith or to remind us how important our friends and family are. Last year one of my good friends was in an accident on Thanksgiving and passed away a few weeks later. We also lost JT, he was only 5 weeks old and passed away after being in an accident a few weeks after Thanksgiving.

So this year my Step-father Frank was hospitalized yesterday. He had to go through surgery to have his appendix removed, minor surgery I know. However, he isn't a very healthy person so he is a very high risk for surgery. Good news is he made it through the Surgery!! He is still on the ventilator and the doctors are trying to wing him off it. He is still sedated and they are watching his oxygen levels and his blood pressure.

Please keep him in your prayers and hopefully he will be able to pull out and go home soon.

My Mom

Well I don't know if I will have time tomorrow to do my final thankful post so I am doing it today. This week I want to say how thankful I am for my mom. She is the BEST!! I know I couldn't survive with out her. She helps me not only survive the parent hood thing but she listens to me vent, gives me advice on my life, doesn't interfere even when she should and loves me no matter what I say or do. I was a horrible child and I put her through hell but she still puts up with me!! LOL!

I love my mom with all my heart and I want her to know how very thankful I am to her and everything she does for me. She is a great mother and grandmother.. (look at Anna's blog and you will see that all the grand kids love her). From the day my two kids were born she has been there favorite. She was there when I gave birth to them both so she was the first person they saw when they came into this world. She has also opened up her heart to my other two. I am very thankful my kids have someone like my mom to call Grandma. I know how important a grandma is and she one of the best grandma's out there. (I say one of the best because in my mind no body is better then my Grandma DeAnn).

So this is a tribute to my mom, she puts up with more then she should and let's people get away with way to much. She has more love in her heart then I think one person can handle and even though she doesn't have the best life she is still plugging along and is pretty upbeat most of the time. Her life is her kids and grand kids and I am thankful for her. Love you mom..

Twilight 2

Well the movie was good, except we had stupid ladies behind us that talked through the whole show!! It totally ruined it for me so I want to see it again w/out the distractions. I am still not a fan of the Actor they picked for Edward but James, the villain, was AWESOME!! If you have read the stories you know this isn't a good statement, I am not suppose to drool over the villain. I was in love with Edward in the books but going off the movie I like Jacob sooo much more and of course "the bad guy" James.

We arrived at 10:30 and the line was already to the door...

This is after they let the line into the theater. Teresa had our tickets so we are patiently waiting... (11:00)

We walked into the theater around 11:10 and we still had to sit on the third row!! (in the second theater they had open!!) So this is the "whole gang" waiting our hour for the movie to start....

It's Thursday

It is getting to close to Christmas, and I know that should mean there is more that I am thankful for, but it doesn't in my "world". If I had my way I would celebrate Christmas in Hawaii with just my family. Christmas has become to commercialized and it just isn't fun anymore. The "REAL" meaning no longer exists and it drives me CRAZY!!
Anyway, last week I talked about my boy so this week I am thankful for my girls. Girls are sooo hard to raise! However, they give you a satisfaction that only girls can. As a mom I get to experience a lot more with them then I do with Kaden. With the girls I can enjoy the "love life of a vampire", make-up, clothes shopping, and SHOES! I also get to experience the boy drama that every girl is plagued with and the roller-coaster of emotions that "most" boys don't have. Don't get me wrong I love my baby boy in every way I am just talking about my girls this round. So we are seeing Twilight tonight with Teresa, Shannon and Kaylee. An all girls night to dream and droll over our favorite Vampire Edward. I am excited to spend some time with the girls even if it is a midnight movie and there will be sooooo many GIRLS!! It should be a lot of fun! LOL!

My Aunt she is so good to spend the night with all of us...

My crazy cousin that talked us into this Midnight movie....

Twilight

Photobucket Well I wasn't going to see this movie but my Aunt Teresa and cousin Shannon talked me into it. We are going to the MIDNIGHT! showing tomorrow night. It will be a girls night out. Scott and Kaden were not game for the midnight show. It should be fun even though I don't like the actor they picked for Edward. He just isn't good-looking enough to play Edward. The girls are excited, I don't kow how excited they will be at 2 in the morning but hey it will be fun... LOL!

Thankful Thursday

UPDATE: Here is a pic of Kaden after his hair cut. He still has a few bald spots because I couldn't go any shorter then this. But he is still CUTE as ever!! LOL!
Well today I have to say I am thankful for patience. My adorable son cut his hair yesterday. At first, needless to say, I freaked!! I asked him why he did it and he couldn't give me an answer and that really irritated me. He wouldn't even tell me where he cut it at MaKia had to search the house to find the scissors he used. Well he went to bed upset with me and I didn't sleep at all because if it. So in the morning light I calmly talked to him and WOW!! he actually responded.. LOL! Amazing huh... After reading Sharons's blog and watching Jason and Ashley's little baby it reminds me that there are worse things then my baby cutting his hair. So I am thankful for patience, even though I don't really have that virtue. It is one I am trying to incorporate into my life. So now that I can laugh at Kaden I will post his pictures..
