November 2012

November was nice, mild temps for Utah, two holidays and pretty peaceful. We went to see the last Twilight movie with the Menlove clan (Including Laura this year!!). It was bittersweet I loved going to the "midnight" showings with my "girls" and this is the last one so no more....We had a great time but it was sad to because our adventure has come to an end.

We celebrated Thanksgiving with the Gilbert family this year (just immediate family they don't get together wiht extended family). It was nice but sad because we didn't really get to see any of his other family, it was more like a regular Sunday dinner. I think Thanksgiving should be spent with family (more then just immediate family) I am glad my family still try to get together every other year. I love spending time with my aunts, uncles and cousins. I think my kids are missing out on getting to know Scott's side of the family and it is sad, but it happens...

Other than that we spent a lot of money on "crap" and Christmas so we are on a spending freeze for a few months. (until our trip to Florida in February and the rest of Christmas of course). Only one month left in 2012, do you think the Zombies are coming??? LOL

October 2012

October was very mild for us. The weather was GREAT, the fall colors were beautiful and my favorite holiday was fun :)

We took the kids to Vegas this year for their fall break. I wanted to take a train ride to Colorado but I was voted out and Vegas won...We went to the Tournament of Kings for dinner one night, it was a good show. We stayed in the Excalibur (not bad but I think more towards the middle of the strip would have been better). We played in the arcade, Scott only gambled once, we went shopping and we ate dinner at the Rain Forest Cafe and a crazy place in the Excalibur (first picture) I can't remember what it's called though....

Kaden finished football, he didn't make it to the play offs this year but he had a good season and they "killed" Lone Peak on their last game of the season. So they went out with a bang!!

I had another Doc appointment and I was told "Congratulations you went from low to high..." Not sure this is any better or in need of congratulations but it's a change...Progress?? I don't know yet...

I let the girls color their hair (with CrAzY colors) Kia is pink, Kenna is blue (no pic :( and Kaden even joined in with a strip of purple...The purple washes out though.

I voted early!!! The line was short and it was a fast in and out. Love the voting early option. Now to get Scott to vote with me next time...

We took my mom out on a date to Scheels (she wanted to go since it has opened) it is a GREAT store. We had a great time with all the photo opportunities.

I re-arranged my big picture wall again. Scott was so pleased with me. I love my pictures we had taken at the Great Salt Lake now they are on my wall to show off.
And of course Halloween. I only did a few Halloween dinners this year. I did a pumpkin cake that was delish, Halloween salad, werewolf bones, snake, bloody worms and monster mash. The kids went trick or treating with Grandma down Main Street and then with friends. Kaden stayed home with Scott and I and we watched Freddy Kruger #4 the Dream Master while he handed out candy. He had a great time with the little kids (especially the little girls) he was so cute with them.

Kaden was a football fairy (from the commercials with Payton Manning).
 Kenna was a bunny
Kia was a toddler and tiara
I was ??? I don't know me with purple hair and a crazy Halloween shirt.... LOL

September 2012

My Daughter turned 16!!! WOW!!! I can't believe she is old enough to drive.

We had a good Labor Day, we spent some time with the Mills/Menlove family at Scofield and a day with Grandpa riding 4-wheelers it was fun (of course I didn't get pictures....).
We had family pictures taken at the Great Salt Lake. I have been wanting these for several years so I am glad I was able to get them taken. The kids cooperated really well and I think they turned out very good.

Other than that September was pretty mild. Not much going on. We did make our annual trip to Oktoberfest up at Snowbird and Scott's family joined us. It is always fun to go up there for a day. The drive was BEAUTIFUL I love the fall colors in the mountains. This is my favorite time of year.

On a happy note my shows are back on TV so now I have even more excuses not to work out LOL.

August 2012

Well August was a month full of ups and downs. While my family celebrated birthdays, school starting and the end of summer, other people we know felt the loss and devistation that life can bring. It is a sad but strong reminder that you never know what tomorrow (or the next hour for that matter) will bring so take each breath as if it is your last and enjoy every second you have on this Earth. Our time here is not guarenteed and it is way to short. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in my own "little" life and problems that I forget to stop and "smell the roses" there is a lot going on right now for me but I need to work on looking past the bad and focusing on the good. My kids are happy and healthy (for the most part) I have a roof over my head, food in my cupboard and some pretty great people in my life. So even with all the bad I am going to try and focus more on the good since the bad will always be there and sometimes the good is hard to find.

Well Kaden broke his arm (AGAIN) the second week of football practice and hasn't been able to play football. He missed playing in the Jamboree and will miss his first game. He has still been going to practice but can't play so he is frustrated. I am hoping he will be able to play the second game of the season.

We bought a bird and named him/her Sitka. It has been a lot of fun having a bird in the house again and this one is a lot nicer then our other one was. The kids all love it and take turns playing with it. Sitka is VERY spoiled and has a HUGE personality. So fun!!
We celebrated McKenna turning 15. She isn't as excited as MaKia was to get her learners permit. She hasn't even read the book. MaKia was bugging us to take her the day she turned 15 but Kenna needs a little push to get going.

MaKia and McKenna started High School this year (well they started technically last year but this year they are in the High School). They where both nervous about going to such a big school but they seem to be adjusting well. Kaden is in 6th grade so this is his last year in Elementary school.

I had a suprise party for MaKia. Her 16th birthday isn't until September 2 but I wanted to have a surprise party for her. My cousin Shannon came and "kidnapped" her while I decorated the house and had everyone come over. She was suprised and we had a good turn out. I think she was happy with it.

MaKia took Kaden to the first High School football game. I love this picture of the two of them together. They actually got along and had a good time together. So nice and rare when this happens :)
